Coach Profiles

Dan Norton-Smith – Assistant Coach

Dan-Norton-SmithPast: Former Head coach of North Burleigh SLSC for 4 years

What makes you want to coach at CSLSC:
I have always taken a great interest in Currumbin’s performances and the past few seasons especially I have noticed a lot of youth coming through the age groups, to go along with an already well established senior crew. Most importantly the attitude of the competitors is a positive one. Currumbin is a professional outfit but still remains “a surf club” at the same time.

Best part about CSLSC:
Firstly, Currumbin Beach is the best location on the Gold Coast! I love the family environment and everyone has been really friendly. The number of athletes we are getting at training has been great and everyone involved is making the most of their opportunities

Chris Maynard – Assistant Coach

Chris-MaynardPast: Lead Ski coach of Currumbin SLSC for the last 5 years

What makes you want to coach at CSLSC:
I’ve been training and competing in a wide range of sports all my life and majority of the past 52 years being involved is Surf Life Saving . During this time I’ve gained a lifetime of experiences and had great success as an athlete and also a coach. The main reason I want to coach at Currumbin SLSC is to hopefully inspire and encourage members to participate in training and competition , giving them opportunities of fulfilment which comes with either success, fitness, fun, self-discipline . I love nothing more than watching and following people that I’ve coached enjoy the spoils of victory, whether it be winning, making finals, achieving goals or seeing the enjoyment and satisfaction of having a go.

Best part about CSLSC:
Everything that this club brings, history, culture, location and the special people that surround this place. It’s quite unique that every section of the Club works together to support each other. Respect and good attitude reflects this mighty place. Luv it …
